Corporate Tooling Center
When
customers need new tooling – or tool modifications – the
Signicast Corporate Tooling Center (CTC) can provide the solutions they
need. Located in Hartford, the CTC serves both our Hartford and Milwaukee
facilities. In most cases, the tools constructed here are of a more
complex nature than most investment casting tooling, but the CTC is
capable of providing a full range of standard components – such
as slides, die sets, and lock blocks – as well.
The CTC also offers full in-house engineering assistance, from part design to tool completion, including CAD/CAM design, CMM capabilities, and fixturing. These in-house capabilities make it possible to provide new tooling quickly – to help keep things moving for rapid turnaround times.
- Quality Counts
To consistently meet our own very high quality standards, all of our tooling is fully modeled in 3-D solids. To increase the accuracy of any future die changes, all tooling changes are fully documented, eliminating the need to "relocate" the die cavities with each rework. All of our tooling is built for maximum wearability, with adjustable gibbs and wear plates beneath all slides. Extreme care is taken to configure tools to make sure cores and pins won’t come in contact with other components in the event of a malfunction.
We use only high-quality 7075 or Q-7 aluminum (not the inferior quality aluminum found elsewhere) and typically build automatic or semi-automatic tooling. This decreases the injection time (compared with manual tooling) and helps lower the final piece price and provides greater consistency over the life of the program.
All of our standard components are precision-built to fit into a variety of configurations and aid in the quick construction of tooling.
- Machines
The Signicast Corporate Tooling Center is fully equipped with a wide range of state-of-the-art tools. Like the rest of our facilities, it is modeled on Continuous Flow Manufacturing principles, giving us the ability to produce hundreds of high-quality tools each year. - Support
Our in-house capabilities also provide quick support during production. Whether it's a die change you desire, or a maintenance issue, you can be assured that down time is minimized.
